[Summary] => ZAMBOANGA CITY An Army lieutenant and four of his men were killed yesterday morning when suspected Abu Sayyaf and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) fighters ambushed their platoon while on patrol in a remote barangay in Patikul, Sulu.
The slain Army officer was 2nd Lt. Raymond Hernandez, while the four soldiers remained unidentified.
Army Col. Roland Detabali said Hernandez and his men were on patrol in Sitio Tugas, Barangay Kanjamak at around 7:30 a.m. when their jeep hit a land mine, causing the vehicle to overturn and throw them to the ground.
