It was a fascinating outlook that Prof. Marivi B. Quintos-Gonzales gave about family-owned corporations, especially its intricacies, which most of us who are in business are just too familiar with. When you talk about Family Corporations, chances are, here in Cebu that means more than 90% of all business enterprises.

It's true that this time around the Cebu City Public Elementary school students scored better in the National Achievement Test (NAT) with a rank of no.4; however, I agree with Cebu City Consultant on Education Joy Augustus Young that it didn't give the true picture of the student's academic proficiency. I further agree that the Cebu City Government should design its own benchmark for student's performance. But who in the City of Cebu should do this? Surely this is not the job of our politicians in the Cebu City Council?

Members of tv, radio and print media enjoyed the numerous gifts and prizes given away. One of the gifts given was an expensive watch. A beat reporter who had his watch robbed three years ago went all teary-eyed when he received his watch. He said, "Dugay na kaayo ko nangandoy nga maka-relo, sukad na hold-up ko ug gikuha akong watch. Salamat kay na grant sa Aboitiz akong wish."

[Summary] => The Supreme Court has affirmed the decision of a court favoring the opposition of the Department of Land Reform to the conversion of an agricultural land in barangay Arpili, Balamban into an industrial area.
The High Tribunal ruled that DLR has the final say whether to approve or deny the conversion of lands from agricultural into industrial after the enactment of Republic Act 6657, or the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Law, on June 15, 1988.
