2020 Language of Love
MANILA, Philippines — As little kids, saying the words “I love you” to our mothers seemed natural and e?ortless. But the moment we began transitioning to adulthood, this is one of the things that changed. Somewhere along the way, we felt that expressing this kind of a? ection would put us in a “cheesy” and awkward situation.
Since the time they knew they were carrying precious lives in their womb, our mothers have never ceased to express how much they love us. Some mothers may not say it often, but their actions alone would tell what’s in their heart. For mothers, the family’s well-being stands as their utmost priority.
It doesn’t matter if they are unwell or tired from their full-time jobs. No matter what, the needs of their family have to be in place before they get a good night’s rest — every single day. It doesn’t matter how busy they are. They would still ? nd time to bond, check up on their children, ask how they feel, or how they have been.
“Every morning, our mother prepares breakfast and other things we need before she leaves for work. And when she comes home, the ? rst thing she does is to take care of us,” Chai Musni, a customer service representative, told The Philippine STAR in a special Mother’s Day dedication video. “She doesn’t think about resting until she’s sure that my sister and I are okay.”
Chai’s mother, Leila Callilian, is just one of the many moms who untiringly show what unconditional love truly is. Her story of love mirrors what every mother endures to show love for her family.
Starting this Mother’s Day, let’s forget about the awkwardness of expressing love. Instead, why don’t we take this opportunity to recall the beautiful smile on her face and glow in her heart and spirit whenever we say, “I love you.”
