Christmas sounds, sights, shopping & entertainment at Ayala Malls

Tanya T. Lara - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Christmas celebration in the Philippines may be the longest in the world and along with it is the most frenzied shopping and entertaining time of the year. It is also one of the most joyous — with activities geared toward children and adults, and a time of abundance.

Ayala malls are now adorned with the liveliest décor and bright lights that make us truly feel the magic of the season: Abreeza Mall, Alabang Town Center, Ayala Center Cebu, Centrio Mall, Fairview Terraces, Glorietta, Greenbelt, Market! Market!, Marquee Mall, Solenad, TriNoma, UP Town Center. Apart from enjoying the sights of Christmas, the malls also let you enjoy the sounds of the season with a concert series called “Sound of Christmas” featuring top singers with the renowned Manila Symphony Orchestra.

The malls also feature Christmas markets for shoppers to pick up holiday gifts and food for their loved ones.

Since this season is especially special for children, Ayala Malls puts the spotlight on the British animated series Peppa Pig as she celebrates her first Christmas in Ayala Malls with her family — little brother George and Mummy and Daddy Pig, who will be giving a Christmas presentation with sing-a-long, dancing.

All in all, the Christmas at Ayala Malls is a big, fun celebration for everyone.

Glorietta

Glorietta’s decorations highlight one of the best-known Christmas symbols — the star. Designed by Zenas Pineda, from Glorietta 1 to Glorietta 5, red and white stars of all  sizes and Christmas lights hang from the ceiling and main entrances of the mall. The bright red and white stars mimic the parol. Some stars have a more humble and muted design while others feature intricate patterns much like snowflake cutouts. The same stars are found on the tall Christmas trees stationed at the Palm Drive entrance and above the Glorietta 3 entrance facing Ayala Avenue.

The mall also invites you to celebrate the joy of giving and sharing by granting an underprivileged child’s precious Christmas wish with 100 Wishes at Glorietta. Visit the Wish Granting booth at Glorietta 4, 2/F (near Guess Kids and Nike) until Dec. 6. Choose a child’s wish list that you want to grant, and hang it on the Wish Tree. Purchase the gift indicated on the child’s wish list.  Deliver the gift to the booth, and create your personalized Christmas card for the child you are giving the gift to. Everyone who will grant a child’s wish is invited to join the Wish Granting event at Glorietta Activity Center, Palm Drive on Dec. 12 at 2 to 5 p.m. to personally give the gift to the child, and join in the activities for the kids.
