Blogging Fashion Week
Fashion Week is a goldmine of content for fashion bloggers. It’s that precious time of year when all the latest looks for the upcoming season are churned out on the catwalk. Hundreds of thousands of images are generated by photographers featuring countless designers, models, socialites, celebrities and other fashion fans. New York Fashion Week is in full swing as of press time and I had a chance to chat with Nylon Magazine’s digital director Faran Krentcil (also of Fashionista.com fame) who graciously offered five fashion week survival tips to bloggers who are planning to hit the circuit.
1. Unless you’re in the front row, sneak to the side of the photo pit and crouch there for the runway shows — if you’re blogging photos from the collections, you’ll get better shots of the clothes from there.
2. Buy a big, chic bag — you’ll need it to hold everything.
3. Don’t freak out about your clothes — chances are, somebody else looks better than you and somebody else looks worse. Just be YOU.
4. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get into the “big” shows. Too often, posts on parties, street style, and models you see in Starbucks get more attention from readers, and they’re more fun for you, too!
5. Be nice to everyone, especially PR people. They remember everything, including who’s been rude to them!
