Unity rides for Duterte to continue
CEBU, Philippines — More unity rides for former President Rodrigo Duterte are expected in the coming days, as the Duterte Riders Team-Philippines (DRT-Philippines) held their third wave of unity rides from Mandaue City to the town of Argao, Cebu, yesterday, March 23, 2025.
DRT-Philippines founder Moises Deiparine said their unity ride yesterday started around 6:30 a.m. at Pasilong Paradise in Mandaue City.
The route passed through Cebu City, Talisay City, the town of Minglanilla, the City of Naga, San Fernando town, Carcar City, Sibonga town, and finally Argao town.
From Argao, the group returned to Carcar City for lunch and a short program. The activity concluded at around 4 p.m.
Deiparine said the unity ride aims to promote peace, unity, and accountability, as well as to bring attention to their call to bring back the former president to the Philippines.
Duterte is facing allegations of murder as crime against humanity in connection with his administration’s war on drugs. He is currently imprisoned in The Hague, Netherlands.
Deiparine added that yesterday’s unity ride was participated by 4,000 to 5,000 motorcycle riders and around 400 four-wheeled vehicles.
He also shared that on March 27, 2025, DRT-Philippines will join a prayer rally in Cebu City, followed by another unity ride on March 28, 2025, as part of Duterte’s 80th birthday celebration.
DRT-Philippines, which was founded in Cebu in 2015, now has over 40 chapters nationwide and plans to hold a simultaneous nationwide unity ride on March 28, 2025.
The first wave of unity rides took place on March 12, 2025, the day after Duterte’s arrest, while the second wave was last Sunday, March 16, 2025.
Meanwhile, the group Hakbang ng Maisug-Cebu, led by co-convenor Atty. Irene Ann Caballes, distributed Senior Sto. Niño statues, rosaries, flowers, and Duterte prayer cards to various police and military detachments in Cebu City and Cebu Province yesterday.
