Lady Falcons end four-game skid

MANILA, Philippines — Adamson vented its ire on winless University of the East, 25-20, 25-11, 25-21, to snap a four-game slide in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball yesterday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Super rookie and MVP contender Shaina Nitura dropped 18 points on 17 hits as the Lady Falcons needed only 78 minutes to start their second round campaign with flying colors.
Adamson started strong in the first round at 2-1 but bowed to Santo Tomas, Far Eastern U, National U and University of the Philippines in succession to settle for seventh place.
But the Lady Falcons had seen enough, keeping mastery of the Lady Warriors after a similar easy win in the first round, 25-20, 25-15, 25-12.
“We’ll continue to motivate and encourage the team. We need that here in the second round where we will have many mountains to climb. We’ll take it one game at a time, we’ll focus on every opponent to prepare hard. Nothing’s impossible,” said coach JP Yude.
Later, Ateneo notched its second straight win to move to 3-5 after a thrilling 15-25, 25-23, 27-25, 30-32, 16-14 decision over University of the Philippines (3-5).
