MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office on Monday launched an initiative aimed at protecting players of lottery and other PCSO games.

Dubbed as Responsible Gaming Awareness Day, the PCSO is promoting the theme “Play smart, play safe,” which highlights the agency’s commitment to ensuring that gaming remains an enjoyable and safe activity while generating funds for its charitable causes.

PCSO general manager Melquiades Robles said gaming is not just about numbers and luck, it is fundamentally about people.

“Responsible gaming is not merely a policy, it is a core principle embedded in the PCSO’s operations,” Robles said in a statement.

He said the charity agency continues to refine strategies to prevent potential problems.

The PCSO games also incorporate responsible gaming principles, including clear rules, age verification and features that promote mindful play while discouraging excessive spending, Robles said.

He said their promotional efforts are conducted with integrity, ensuring that messages are appropriate and do not target vulnerable people, particularly minors.

Players are also provided information and resources about responsible gaming.

Robles assured the public that the PCSO is dedicated to enhancing its initiatives, adapting to evolving challenges and ensuring that gaming remains a source of entertainment while prioritizing the welfare of players.

“The journey toward responsible gaming is continuous, requiring collaboration and accountability,” he said.
