MANILA, Philippines — The Taal Volcano in Batangas experienced a volcanic tremor lasting over an hour on Tuesday, February 4, according to Phivolcs.
In a bulletin on Wednesday, February 5, Phivolcs observed one volcanic tremor at Taal Volcano over the past 24 hours. It lasted for one hour and 24 minutes.
One of the longest tremors occurred in October 2024, which happened over 10 hours.
However, volcanic tremors and earthquakes have remained infrequent, with only zero to two recorded in recent weeks.
Taal remains under Alert Level 1, indicating low-level unrest. The volcano erupted three times in January.

Sulfur dioxide emissions have also increased, with Phivolcs measuring 2,028 tons per day as of February 3. The emissions generated a 600-meter-high plume with moderate activity.
Phivolcs also observed deflation at the Taal Caldera and short-term inflation on the southeastern flank of Taal Volcano Island.
The agency warned of potential steam-driven or gas-driven explosions, volcanic earthquakes, minor ashfall and the release of volcanic materials.
