Dismembered cop bore gunshot, stab wounds
MANILA, Philippines — The police officer whose dismembered body was found buried in Baguio City sustained gunshot wounds and was stabbed multiple times, the Philippine National Police reported yesterday.
PNP public information officer Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said Executive M/ Sgt. Emmanuel de Asis died of gunshots to the head and neck as well as stab wounds in the chest.
The suspects in the policeman’s killing, Lt. Col. Rhoderick Pascua and his wife, also an executive master sergeant, are being held on murder charges.
Fajardo said the hacksaw, which was allegedly used to dismember De Asis, was recovered in the stockroom of the residential complex where the couple was residing.
“They applied solution that would indicate na may mga bloodstain ‘yung mismong hacksaw,” Fajardo said at a news briefing.
The revelation that De Asis was shot raised questions as to why not a single neighbor of the suspects heard gunfire.
