LOS ANGELES — Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant has suffered a sprained left ankle and will miss the next week of the NBA season before being reevaluated, according to multiple reports on Wednesday (Thursday Manila time).

Durant suffered the injury in the second quarter of Tuesday's 104-93 victory over San Antonio when he stepped on the foot of the Spurs' Julian Champagnie.

ESPN and the Arizona Republic reported that Durant will miss games at New Orleans, Miami and Orlando before next week's checkup.

Durant, a two-time NBA champion, has averaged 25.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists for the Suns this season. He was out for 11 days last month with a left calf strain.

At 12-8, the Suns are sixth in the Western Conference. They are 11-2 with Durant in the lineup and 1-6 without him.

The 36-year-old US playmaker was the 2014 NBA Most Valuable Player and is a 14-time NBA All-Star and a two-time MVP of the NBA Finals and NBA All-Star Game.
