BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A supposed drug deal that went awry resulted in a shooting incident that left one dead in Barangay Ferdinand over the weekend.

Police said victim Lucas Maraneg was in a car that got stalled at Happy Homes when assailant Michael Garcia, who was in pursuit in another car, started shooting.

Maraneg died in a hospital from multiple gunshot wounds. His companion, Gino Banta, was wounded.

Sources from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said the shooting appeared to be a drug deal gone wrong among Garcia, Maraneg and Banta.

In Barangay North Sanitary Camp, the PDEA-Cordillera arrested a 45-year-old woman for selling five grams of shabu to operatives on Sunday.

Derrick Carreon, PDEA-Cordillera director, said 11 more grams of shabu were seized from the woman, who faces charges for drug trafficking.
