MANILA, Philippines — Fil-Am Peter Groseclose delivered a proud performance for the country in snaring a historic bronze medal in the International Skating Union Junior World Cup 2 in Bormio, Italy.
The Winter Youth Olympian’s podium finish came in the short track speed skating 500 meters where he finished behind Korean Koo Minseung and Canadian Victor Chartrand in the meet participated in by 47 nations.
It was the Philippines’ first medal in the event.
The 17-year-old Tarzana, California born speed skater improved on his sixth-place effort last year in the Netherlands.
It eased the heartache of his Winter Youth Olympic experience in Gangwon, Korea where he was so close to pulling off a podium finish before an accidental collision with a competitor averted it.
