24 road mishaps during Undas weekend
Last Friday, All Saints’ Day, a total of 18 road mishaps were reported to the agency’s Metrobase from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., where at least 11 motorists were injured and rushed to the nearest hospitals.

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority recorded a total of 24 road crash incidents along major roads in Metro Manila during the long weekend that coincided with the observance of or All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.

Last Friday, All Saints’ Day, a total of 18 road mishaps were reported to the agency’s Metrobase from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., where at least 11 motorists were injured and rushed to the nearest hospitals.

There were incidents of sideswiping by a motorcycle and a van at the Quezon Avenue-West Avenue intersection, by two motorcycles at the Katipunan Avenue-C.P. Garcia Avenue intersection, by a motorcycle and a car at the P. Tuazon tunnel along EDSA, by two motorcycles at the Quezon Avenue-Elliptical Road intersection, by a motorcycle and a truck at the Commonwealth Avenue-Doña Carmen Avenue intersection, by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and a motorcycle at the EDSA-Dario Bridge, all in Quezon City, and by a taxi and a bus at the EDSA-Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue in Makati City.

MMDA field personnel also reported to the Metrobase “bumped-from-behind” incidents by a car and a passenger jeepney near the Bonifacio Monument Circle and EDSA in Caloocan City, and by a passenger jeepney and a van along C-5 near McKinley Hill in Taguig City.

There were also reports of self-accidents involving a motorcycle near the EDSA-P. Tuazon intersection in Quezon City, a car that hit a concrete barrier along EDSA near North Avenue in Quezon City and another motorcycle along EDSA near Tramo in Pasay City.

Reports of vehicular collisions also reached the MMDA Metrobase particularly involving a car and two motorcycles along C-5 in Pinagsama, Taguig City; a taxi and two motorcycles at the EDSA-Shaw Boulevard tunnel in Mandaluyong City; a motorcycle and two cars along EDSA-Santolan in Quezon City; a passenger jeepney and an SUV at the Dimasalang-Maria Clara Streets intersection in Manila; and a car and an SUV at the Marcos Highway-Katipunan Avenue intersection in Quezon City.

A motorcycle also got into a hit-and-run incident along EDSA southbound near Tramo in Pasay City.

Six more road crash incidents were registered by the MMDA from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. yesterday, All Souls’ Day.
