MANILA, Philippines — Reigning champion National U salvaged the last twice-to-beat quarterfinal incentive with a 25-14, 25-20, 25-17 win over University of the East at the close of the Shakey’s Super League Collegiate Pre-Season Championship second round yesterday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

SSL MVP Alyssa Solomon and UAAP MVP Bella Belen fired 11 points each as the Lady Bulldogs, also the UAAP champions, finished second in Pool E with a 2-1 slate.

NU’s 28-game winning streak since 2022 was ended by unbeaten La Salle, which already sealed the first bonus, last week before stringing two straight wins to clinch the other incentive.

Another seasoned spiker in Vange Alinsug added 10 points for the NU squad which is in chase of a three-peat in the pre-season tourney.

“Unti-unti nagiging mas stable na ‘yung sistema ni coach Sherwin (Meneses) so nae-execute namin ng maayos,” said NU deputy Karl Dimaculangan on behalf of Sherwin Meneses, who’s in Taiwan for a prior commitment.
