11 families lose homes to fire in Quiot, Pardo

CEBU, Philippines — A total of 11 families comprising of 45 individuals lost their homes to a fire in Sitio Germilina, San Carlos Heights, Barangay Quiot, Cebu City past 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29.

Fire Officer 2 Marie Grace Ambayan, fire investigator, said 12 houses were affected by the fire that allegedly started at the house of Rena Solomon at 10:03 a.m. The blaze quickly spread reducing to ashes eight houses while four others were partially burned.

The Cebu City Fire Department estimated the damage to properties at P675,000. No casualty was reported in the fire that lasted over 40 minutes. Fire officials are still investigating what caused the blaze.

The affected families are temporarily sheltered at the Fatima Chapel in San Carlos Heights while food provisions were immediately distributed by the Cebu City government through the Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS). —/FPL (FREEMAN)
