MANILA, Philippines — It did not take long for Santo Tomas to get back on track after drubbing University of the Philippines, 25-14, 25-19, 25-21, to end the second round of the 2024 Shakey’s Super League Collegiate Pre-Season Championship yesterday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
On the heels of a surprising straight-sets defeat to Far Eastern U, the Tigresses hardly broke a sweat against the Maroons to wrap up their campaign at 6-1 in the two-round prelims.
Santo Tomas finished at 2-1 in Pool F, after a 4-0 sweep in Pool B, needing to wait for the remaining schedule of Far Eastern (4-0) to determine its twice-to-beat fate as only the top two teams from the group will get the incentive in the crossover quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, La Salle extended its unbeaten run to five games to move closer to a win-once bonus in Pool E after a gritty 23-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-16, win over the University of the East.
