Blazers get back at Chiefs

Joey Villar - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines —  Gab Cometa went on a scoring rampage as St. Benilde routed Arellano U, 100-77, yesterday to remain unflappable at the helm in NCAA Season 100 at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.

Cometa unleashed his best performance to date with 23 points off the bench as the Blazers sealed their ninth win in 11 outings.

CSB coach Charles Tiu was quick to emphasize that it was their defense and committing less mistakes that made the biggest difference.

“We made sure we took care of the ball and defended well. It was a pretty good game for us,” said Tiu after the Blazers avenged a stunning 73-71 loss to the Chiefs in the first round.

In the other game, San Sebastian ended an eight-game slide with an 87-85 win over Jose Rizal U.
