MANILA, Philippines — All is set for the Sharks Billiards Association inaugural season kick-off on Wednesday at the Sharks Arena and Sports Bar in Quezon City, pitting the QC Dragons versus the Taguig Stallions.
Jerico Banares, John Rebong, Deanmark Castronuevo, Alexis Ferrer and John Paul Ladao compose the QC team tangling with Taguig’s Rodrigo Geronimo, Demosthenes Pulpul, Bryant Saguiped, Mark Ejay Cunanan and Michael Quinay.
Week 2 match-up, set Sept. 25-29, features Oliver Villafuerte and his Negros Occidental Pillars squaring off with Baseth Mocaibat and his Manila MSW Mavericks.
The Pillars include Albert Espinola, Jonald Galve, Jolo Aspuria and Ryan Mark Hidalgo while the others carrying the Mavericks banner are Jonas Magpantay, John Albert Refulle, Drahcir Mauricio and Tristan Deocareza.
While SBA’s first season is a 9-ball event, the league is implementing innovations to add dimensions to the game, including the lag loser nominating a player first for the match. This allows the lag winner to strategize and pick team member matching up best against his opponent, while also getting to break first.
