MANILA, Philippines — The Soft Tennis Pilipinas recorded a historic podium finish with a bronze feat in men’s team event at the 17th World Championships in Anseong, Korea last night.

Joseph Arcilla, Dheo Talatayod, Patrick Mendoza, Adjuthor Moralde II, Samuel Nuguit and Sherwin Nuguit composed the squad of coaches Wenifredo de Leon and Michael Enriquez and team manager Jaekoo Yoon, gaining the distinction as the lone Southeast Asian team to medal in the competition that drew 380 bets from 31 nations.

The Philippines, now led by association president Lt. Col. Bobby Moran, previously won medals in the meet courtesy of Josephine Paguyo (bronze in women’s singles in 1995), Arcilla (bronze in men’s singles in 2011) and Bien Zoleta (bronze in women’s singles in 2015)
