Esports in UAAP

NBA2K, Valorant and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang are the online games listed in the Esports’ UAAP debut at the Arete in Ateneo.

MANILA, Philippines — The booming Esports discipline has been included in the UAAP calendar as a demonstration sport.

Having been in consideration in the past years, Esports kicks off the 87th UAAP Season on Aug. 13 to 21.

NBA2K, Valorant and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang are the online games listed in the Esports’ UAAP debut at the Arete in Ateneo.

For now, however, no medal will be at stake in Esports.

“It’s a demonstration sport. At least for this initial salvo,” UAAP executive director Atty. Rebo Saguisag told The STAR.

UAAP’s inclusion of Esports embodies the league’s adaptability in the modern world, especially with Philippine teams winning international titles left and right in different Esports fields.

All eight UAAP member schools are seeded in the said three events with NBA 2k24 first to be held on Aug. 13 to 15 followed by Valorant on Aug. 13 to 16.
