MANILA, Philippines — School pride and spirit will be at stake, more than just the whopping grand prize, as the best teams in the country slug it out in the Estudyante Esports: The National Championships.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Valorant, League of Legends and Tekken 8 are the esports events to be played by the participating colleges and universities for a total cash pot of P1.6 million.

Regional qualifiers slug it out in the national finals in September.

A grand prize of P250,000 will be awarded to the champion team plus P80,000 to the mother school followed by P100,000 (team) and P50,000 (school) for the runner-up in MLBB, Valorant and League of Legends.

The Most Valuable Player will receive P50,000 while Tekken 8 podium finishers will pocket P50,000, P30,000 and P20,000.

“It’s an esports celebration of our schools and local communities. It’s going to be epic. But what really makes this program special is how it brings schools together. It’s not just about the competition, it’s about giving every school, no matter how big or small, a chance to shine on a national esports stage,” said Dark League Studios chief executive officer AC Valdenor.

“Through the National Championships, we are fulfilling Dark League Studio’s thrust and intent to really bring esports more accessible to students and schools,” added DLS program director Deng Kibanoff.

Registration is ongoing for the event that will have separate qualifiers in NCR, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Early registrants are UP-Diliman, Holy Angel U, San Jose Recoletos, Mindanao State U-Iligan, NU-Manila, JRU, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, PUP, UMak, Lyceum Subic Bay, USTSP and CPU.
