MANILA, Philippines —  Mason Amos apparently did not inform the Ateneo Blue Eagles of his departure from their nest.

In the aftermath of that decision that shook the Katipunan-based crew and the entire collegiate scene, Amos issued an apology for his actions that could have been “handled better.”

“It’s been a tough week with a decision I made due to my reasons. However, my actions were unacceptable and not called for,” posted the 19-year-old sensation on his official social media account yesterday.

“Although I did mention the offer to the management, they weren’t informed about my final decision as well as my teammates because I felt that it was a personal decision for me and my family.”

Amos on Monday exited Ateneo after only a season, leaving the UAAP world in awe, especially with only two months to go before the UAAP Season 87 opener. He made the decision through an Instagram post while in Riga, Latvia with Gilas Pilipinas as its youngest player in the ongoing FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Fans called out the decision disrespectful without informing the Blue Eagles while some ex-Ateneo players also lamented their side through cryptic posts.
