Adiwang high on Miado’s chances vs Japanese foe

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino fighter Jeremy Miado has the tools to knock Hiroba Minowa out when the two mixed martial artists face each other this weekend in ONE Fight Night 23, Lito Adiwang stressed. 

Adiwang, who previously faced both Miado and Minowa inside the ONE ring, is backing his compatriot, who is trying to break a three-match losing streak. 

“As someone who’s faced both fighters and has experienced their strengths, I believe Miado has the edge in this fight,” he said in a statement. 

“The Thunder Kid” previously went 1-1 in his two fights against “The Jaguar” in 2022 and 2023, and lost against the 24-year-old Japanese via split decision back in 2020.

The 31-year-old Adiwang said that the Filipino “has the edge” in the fight. 
“Their striking… aren’t in the same atmosphere,” he underscored.  

“Miado has a very big advantage in the striking department, and it’s all about focusing on connecting and delivering his strikes,” he added. 

Minowa, however, has a huge advantage in the grappling department, Adiwang admitted.

“For Minowa, I believe that he needs to take this fight to the ground and control Miado to try and finish him there via submission or score points on him. That’s the only way Minowa can win in this match.”  

But despite this, Adiwang believes in the Albay native. 

“He has my support. I want him to win this fight,” he said. 

“He can dominate Minowa on the feet, and he has the tools to finish [him] via KO or TKO.” 

The 31-year-old Miado lost his previous three fights – against Russia’s Mansur Malachiev, Adiwang and Keito Yamakita. 

The No. 4-ranked strawweight contender is also reeling from three straight losses versus Jarred Brooks, Bokang Masunyane and Gustavo Balart. 

ONE Fight Night 23 will be main evented by an interim lightweight MMA world championship bout between Ok Rae Yoona nd Alibeg Rasulov.
