MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Badminton Association (PBAD) has sealed a partnership with media giant Cignal to bring the much-awaited Philippine Badminton Open 2024 closer to the Filipino fans, live and on-demand, next month.
PBAD and Cignal inked the broadcast partnership last Tuesday at the Cignal Customer Experience Center at the TV5 Launchpad Building in Mandaluyong City – signaling a bright future for the exposure of the Filipino shuttlers.
Under the deal, Cignal will air the knockout rounds of the Philippine Open, an elite Super 500 tourney that will gather hundreds of the best shuttlers across the archipelago on June 5 to 11.
“As a badminton player myself, I am thrilled to see the support the sport is finally getting. This tournament would not be possible without the unwavering support of our partners,” said PBAD secretary-general Carla Lizardo-Sulit.
“We’re very excited that we’re adding to the family a strategic partner in PBAD. We’re here to support not only the main tournaments but also the grassroots program to create greater awareness for badminton in the Philippines,” said MediaQuest and Cignal TV president Jane Basas.
