MANILA, Philippines — John Cabang Tolentino and Lauren Hoffman only had one thing in mind – deliver a performance to remember.
They did as the pair of Fil-Heritage athletes set new Philippine records in the ICTSI Philippine Athletics Championships yesterday and bolstered their bids to qualify to the Paris Olympics.
Tolentino clocked 13.37 seconds to erase the national men’s 110-meter hurdles mark of 13.53 he set in the Spanish Championships in July last year while propelling him to No. 24 in the Olympic rankings.
Hoffman, for her part, timed in 13.34 in the women’s 100m hurdles to eclipse the previous mark of 13.41 that she registered in the Duke Invitational in April a year ago.
Olympic hopefuls Yacine Guermali and Janry Ubas blew away the competition with the former topping the 5000m in 14:18.83 and the latter ruling the men’s long jump with a 7.83m.
