MANILA, Philippines -- Filipino mixed martial arts legend Eduard Folayang stressed that Denice Zamboanga should work on her wrestling and grappling skills ahead of her fight against Stamp Fairtex.

The former teammates clash in the main event of ONE 167: Stamp vs. Zamboanga at the Impact Arena in Bangkok on June 8th for the ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA world championship.

Folayang, a former ONE FC Lightweight MMA world champion, gave “The Menace” some words of advice a few months before their fight.

“I am looking at her wrestling and ground game against Stamp. She needs to have a good game plan because she is already tested in striking,” the 40-year-old “Landslide” said.

“So, she needs to counter the strengths of Stamp.”

The 26-year-old Fairtex is currently the champion and is coming off of four straight wins.

The 27-year-old Filipina, on the other hand, won her last two bouts.

Zamboanga’s brother, Drex, and fiance Fritz Biagtan are part of her training camp.

“It is a good thing that she has surrounded herself with the right people to push her to get that belt,” Folayang added.

The Lions Nation MMA star also reminded Zamboanga to keep her faith in the Lord and keep her focus on the task at hand.

“Number one is her faith in the Lord, because He will give her the strength to win. And, [she needs] good preparation.”

“The Menace” is currently holding a 10-2 MMA win-loss record. She won her last two bouts against Julie Mezabarba and Lin Heqin, both via decision.
