National anti-doping policy crafted
MANILA, Philippines — The House Committee on Youth and Sports Development has approved a proposed bill, establishing a national anti-dopping policy in Philippine sports.
The still unnumbered measure is a consolidation of House Bills 5339 and 7927, both authored by Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez.
“By establishing clear rules and consequences for doping violations, these laws help to protect the integrity of sports and the health of young athletes,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez has expressed confidence that the substitute bill is aligned with the international standards set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and Philippine National Anti-Doping Organization (PHINADO).
