Folayang says he’s not yet done, eyes ONE return
MANILA, Philippines – Eduard Folayang has a lot left in the tank before calling it a career, he underscored, as he expressed willingness to return to the ONE Championship cage later this year.
“The Landslide” won his last fight against Singapore’s Amir Khan in September last year during ONE Fight Night 14: Stamp vs. Ham.
Speaking to reporters over the weekend, Folayang said that he wants to fight “either the second or third quarter of the year.”
“For me, yes [I want to fight]. I think I still have a lot left before calling it a career,” the 40-year-old mixed martial artist told reporters in Filipino.
He said that he is preparing for a possible fight while training fellow Lions Nation MMA fighter Jeremy Pacatiw, who will be facing Wang Shuo on April 6 at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.
“My target is [to fight] either the second quarter, hopefully, or the third quarter. Looking into that, what we are doing while we’re preparing Jeremy, we are also training because we are professionals,” Folayang stressed.
“Anytime the call comes, when you are not ready, the opportunity might be wasted,” he added.
The former ONE lightweight champion said he has no opponent in sight yet.
“I think the best thing to do is see who were formerly in the top five [of the lightweight division rankings] and prepare for that.”
