NEW YORK – Detroit Pistons guard Evan Fournier was fined $25,000 by the NBA on Monday (Tuesday Manila time) for kicking a game ball into the spectator stands, the league announced.

The 31-year-old Frenchman was punished for an incident that took place just after the finish of the Pistons' 104-101 home loss to the Miami Heat on Sunday.

With the loss, Detroit fell to 12-55, the second-worst record in the NBA.

Fournier, in his 12th NBA campaign, joined the struggling Pistons last month in a deal that sent Bojan Bogdanovic to the New York Knicks.

The Frenchman, selected 20th overall in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft by Denver, has averaged 7.2 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists a game this season for the Knicks and Pistons.

Fournier, who helped France capture Tokyo Olympic silver, has averaged 13.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists over 690 career NBA games with Denver, Orlando, Boston, the Knicks and Detroit.
