MANILA, Philippines — Carlos Yulo made sure he won’t go home empty handed as he snatched a bronze medal in the men’s floor exercise of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan yesterday.
The two-time world champion scored 14.366 for the bronze behind Belarus’ Yahor Sharamkou and Japan’s Minami Kazuki, who took the gold and silver with 14.933 and 14.666, respectively.
It made up for Yulo’s heartbreaks after crashing out in his other favorite event – vault – where he wound up 21st with a 13.933.
The six-time Asian champion and nine-time Southeast Asian Games golden boy landed 16th in the horizontal bar with a 13.566 and the pommel horse where he slumbered to 41st with an 11.566.
Fil-Am Emma Malabuyo made it to the finals of the women’s floor exercise after she placed sixth with a 13.000 in the qualification round.
