MANILA, Philippines — At age 32, Francis Casey Alcantara continued to achieve milestones after zooming to career-high Associated Tennis Professionals rankings at 169th from 176th recently.

And he isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

By doing so, Alcantara has emerged as the top doubles player in the country and was a recipient of the Philippine Sportswriters Association citation following their doubles gold with Ruben Gonzales.

Alcantara triumphed in the doubles at the M25 Chennai ITF tilt in India while snaring the bronze with a sensational Alex Eala in last year’s Hangzhou Asian Games.

Cebuana Lhuillier’s Jean Henri Lhuillier, Alcantara’s benefactor, heaped nothing but praise on the Cagayan de Oro native.

“Nino’s relentless pursuit to greatness greatly embodies the resilience and determination that define great athletes,” said Lhuillier, who is also Philippine Tennis Association board member and United Tennis Philippines president. “His achievements inspire us all and reflect the immense potential within the Filipino tennis community.”

“He truly deserves the recognition and we cannot wait until the day he lands a spot in the top 100 players in the UTP,” he added.

Alcantara will now set his sights on three ATP Challenger tilts in the next few months.
