MANILA, Philippines — The Blackwater Bossing have rolled the welcome mat for veteran James Yap, their big mid-season acquisition.
“Welcome to the Blackwater Bossing,” team owner Dioceldo Sy himself posted on Instagram yesterday.
The 41-year-old Yap is set to sign his contract with the Blackwater camp today, a week after parting ways with Rain or Shine. The two-time MVP and seven-time PBA champion is on his third team after spending seven years with the Elasto Painters and prior to that, nine years with the Star Hotshots, his first PBA club.
Yap, who attended the Bossing’s practice yesterday, also announced his arrival at the Blackwater camp on social media.
“Say hello to your new Bossing, James Yap, No. 15,” he wrote in a post accompanied by a pair of photos with him wearing 15 for Blackwater and 18 for his old team ROS.
The popular player known as “Big Game” is expected to provide leadership and firepower to a youth-laden Bossing team that finished with a solitary win against 10 losses in the Commissioner’s Cup.
