MANILA, Philippines – The Asia Pacific Predator League over the weekend saw a unique celebration not just of esports, but also of Filipino artists as the grand finals featured a combination of intense esports clashes with top performances from different local artists.
"When we decided to have it at the Mall of Asia Arena, we wanted to cater to different segments. That’s why Predator League 2024 is more than just an esports event for Dota2 and Valorant. We know there is a huge community for that, but we also wanted to entertain. So we brought music and entertainment from our very own brand ambassadors. It’s that combination of music and esports that we’re bringing out to our consumers, said Acer Philippines manager director Sue Ong-Lim.
Tournament organizers shared the finals saw a total of 15000 onsite spectators, enjoying competitive esports and amazing musical talent from Filipino stars like Sarah Geronimo and SB19, as well as Urbandub, Sandwich, Spongecola, Felip, Ylona Garcia and KZ Tandingan.
For SB19's Josh Cullen, it was a dream come true to not only be part of the Asia-Pacific Predator League as a performer, but also to take part in the Valorant showmatch, merging his love for esports and performing in one stage.
"Gaming has been my first love. Together with performing here, sa gaming event na ito, it's been a very special moment for me kasi ever since talaga hinahanap ko yung crossover ng gaming and music. [The past weekend], it finally happened," said Cullen to the fans after he opened the grand finals.
With the next Asia-Pacific Predator League taking place in Malaysia, Acer and Predator are committed in bringing the tournament to new heights.
"Predator League started in 2018 and it’s becoming bigger than ever. The whole Predator headquarters is very committed in making sure we bring the next level of esports tournament and experience for the Asia Pacific region, year after year," said Ong-Lim.
