Malarayat, Katy’s Farm pace Lipa golf

MANILA, Philippines —  Team Malarayat and Katys’ Farm-AGAP 1 put in 94 points each for joint leadership in the championship division in the first Lipa City Fiesta Barako Golf Tournament at the Mount Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Lipa, Batangas yesterday.

Terence Macatangay top scored with 36 Stableford points for Malarayat and was backed up by the 30 of team captain Ivan Avena and 28 of Ray Sangil. The 27 of Carlo Canicosa was didn’t count in the four-to-play, three-to-count format.

Gerald Katigbak paced Katy’s Farm-AGAP 1 with 34 with support from junior golfer Patrick Tambalque (31) and Erik Escalona (29).

Ramada, tipped to contend for the crown, ended with 88 followed by Summit Point 1 82, Katy’s Farm-AGAP 2 79, Baryoe Pamilya’SuperMLD 63 and Jten 53.

Over at Summit Point, the crew of Team Master pooled in 83 points to lead the way in Division A. Roy Abalos and Victor Antiqua posted identical 28s and Rolando delos Santos had 27. Eight points down with 75 was the Batangas Birdie Boys team.
