MANILA, Philippines – Dwight Howard is pushing for changing the height requirement in the PBA, as he hinted that he is “eligible” for Asia’s first pay-for-play league.

On Tuesday, Howard posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) where he was at a supermarket and his height was being measured.

Seemingly joking, the former NBA champion and three-time defensive player of the year said he is only 6-foot-9.

“Come get me in the league! Stop playing,” he said in the video.

On Wednesday, Howard said that he is eligible for the PBA.

“So, I think they gotta change the height requirements because I’m 6-foot-9 without shoes,” Howard said.

“I hope they do that so guys like Dray [Blatche] can come back here and play as well,” he added.

The height limit for imports in the PBA is currently at 6-foot-9.

“If they change the height requirements, maybe we’ll see the twin towers in the Philippines,” he added.

Howard was tapped by the Strong Group Athletics to be an import in the Dubai International Basketball Championships later this month.

Aside from Howard, the team will also field fellow former NBA players Blatche and Andre Roberson, and Mckenzie Moore.

On Wednesday’s open practice, the four imports were present, along with locals JD Cagulangan, Justine Baltazar, Kevin Quiambao, Allen Liwag, Tony Ynot, Justine Sanchez and Francis Escandor.

Only Jordan Heading was unable to attend the practice.

“We’ve been really focused on what our mission is, and why I’m here, so everybody’s locked in and I really love the energy from all the guys. Everybody’s focused, they all understand how important this tournament is, not just for us to win but for their future career in basketball,” Howard said.

“It’s been a great opportunity and I’m super happy that I got a chance to be a part of it.”
