Ced Domingo finds new home with Akari
(Updated 5:25 p.m.) MANILA, Philippines -- There is a new Akari Charger in town.
Former Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Finals MVP Ced Domingo has officially committed with Akari, the team announced Saturday.
Domingo was earlier released by her previous PVL team, the Creamline Cool Smashers.
Her rights were with Creamline despite playing for Thailand's Nakhon Ratchasima last year.
The STAR earlier reported Domingo's commitment to Akari.
Domingo previously won two best middle blocker awards, as well as four championships, with Creamline.
"Leaving Creamline is always a hard decision. That's how it felt in October, when there was a Thailand stint offer, but I thought this opportunity doesn’t come often so I grabbed it. No regrets because there are so much learnings here that I know I will cherish from this," the middle blocker said.
"And this time, another hard decision to leave them for good. Honestly, the management has always been so understanding and until the last conversation I had with Sir Alan [Acero], I still really felt valued that's why I will always have high respect to the whole Creamline family," she added.
Domingo is the latest star signed by Akari.
Earlier this week, the team signed Grethcel Soltones.
Meanwhile, the PLDT High Speed Hitters also announced the signing of Majoy Baron.
The middle blocker's jump to PLDT came a day after Kim Fajardo's signing.
Baron and Fajardo were part of the disbanded F2 Logistics Cargo Movers.
"Middle blocker Majoy Baron is on a high-speed path towards the resumption of her journey to greatness as she joins PLDT this 2024," the team said in a Facebook post.
"Your impeccable timing in blocking never goes out of style, Majoy! Let's get it!" it added. -- With a report from Luisa Morales
