MANILA, Philippines – "The Beast" may be headed back to the hardcourt soon.

Calvin Abueva may see action for the first time in the PBA Season 48 Commissioner's Cup on Saturday, Magnolia Hotshots head coach Chito Victolero said.

Abueva, who has not played in the Commissioner's Cup so far due to a hemorrhoids operation, may be activated in time for Magnolia's clash against the Converge FiberXers on Saturday, Victolero bared.

"There's probability that he will play on Saturday," the coach told reporters after the Hotshots' 104-91 victory over the Terrafirma Dyip Wednesday.

"We will decide by tomorrow. If the physical therapist approves that he can play, I think he will play on Saturday," he added.

Despite missing the services of the ever-energetic forward, Magnolia is currently on top of the standings with an 8-1 win-loss slate.

The team won their first seven games in the tournament, before being dealt its first blemish by Rain or Shine.

The Hotshots then got back to their winning ways quickly against Terrafirma.

Abueva's return will be a welcome sight for Magnolia, as their rotation will just get deeper.

The forward earlier revealed that he got operated back in September before the start of the season.
