Eala ties career-best WTA ranking
MANILA, Philippines -- Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala has risen by a rank in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) women's singles' rankings.
Eala tied her career-best 189th rank, according to the WTA rankings released earlier in the week.
Previously, Eala is ranked 190th.
Taking her place is American Robin Montgomery, who previously ranked 218th in the world.
Eala is behind Belgium's Ysaline Bonaventure, who is ranked world's 188th.
The 18-year-old Filipina finished with the silver medal in the W40 Petange in Luxembourg last month.
She fell at the hands of France's Oceane Dodin, who is currently ranked 97th in the world.
In November, Eala rose to the No. 190, 14 spots higher than her previous number 204 position.
It was an eventful 2023 for the tennister, winning two singles' tennis titles.
She also nabbed two bronze medals in the Hangzhou Asian Games.
