Blazers thwart Chiefs for 3rd straight win
MANILA, Philippines -- The Benilde Blazers held on and notched their third straight victory in the NCAA Season 99 at the expense of the Arellano Chiefs, 72-66, Sunday afternoon at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
Benilde trailed by two, 61-59, with less than four minutes left in the match.
Robi Nayve, however, tied the game with the floater of the glass with 3:48 remaining.
Benilde then had a 7-2 run to take a 68-63 lead with seconds remaining.
A 3-pointer by Basti Valencia cut the lead to two, 68-66 for the Chiefs.
Migs Oczon iced the game with a pair of free throws with 12.6 ticks left.
Benilde was trailing 36-26 at the half, but dropped a 25-11 third quarter to take a four point lead heading into the fourth.
Migs Oczon led Benilde with 16 points and two rebounds.
Prince Carlos with 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds.
Valencia had 19 points off the bench for Arellano.
Benilde is currently holding a 4-3 win-loss slate.
Arellano, meanwhile, dropped to a 1-6 record.
