Bolts reel to another loss

MANILA, Philippines — Morocco’s Faith Union Sport (FUS) sent Meralco to the brink of a total shutout in the Doha International Basketball Championship with a 75-56 beating in Friday night’s classification game.

The Moroccan club dropped a telling 14-0 bomb in the third to break away, 54-35, from the Bolts, whose fruitless hunt for a breakthrough win in Qatar extended to a fourth match.

The Philippines’ lone representative in the eight-team field from seven countries has one last shot to pick up a W when it faces Kuwait’s Al Arabi SC in the classification battle for seventh spot.

FUS held the Bolts to a measly eight points in the penultimate quarter while scoring 25 to set the tone for the romp that sent it to the duel for No. 5 against Iraq’s Dijla University.
