MANILA, Philippines – The College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers marched on to the finals of the V-League women’s volleyball tournament after sweeping the UE Lady Warriors, 25-21, 25-13, 25-10, Friday at the Paco Arena in Manila.
Benilde used a balance attack en route to the finals.
Four Lady Blazers finished in double figures, led by Jhasmine Pascual with 13 points followed by Zamantha Nolasco with 12.
Jade Gentapa and Michelle Gamit had 10 points apiece.
UE’s 17 errors were also a big factor in the game.
The Lady Warriors were carried by super rookie Casiey Dongallo with 17 points. KC Cepada followed suit with seven points.
Benilde head coach Jerry Yee pointed out that the team was relaxed in the closeout game, hoping to see the same attitude in the finals.
Meanwhile, the FEU Lady Tamaraws forced a do-or-die game three against the Perpetual Lady Altas, 23-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-13.
Cherie Tagaod took over for FEU in the must-win game, finishing with 25 big points. Kiesha Bedonia had 16 of her own.
Mary Rhose Dapol was the lone Perpetual player in double figures with 15 points.
FEU won despite giving up 25 points in errors.
With the FEU-Perpetual heading into a decider, Benilde’s Yee said his team will use the extra day off to their advantage.
