Team Secret bids farewell to DubsteP
MANILA, Philippines — Team Secret has officially announced the release of Jayvee “DubsteP” Paguirigan, two weeks after Paguirigan said he would be a restricted free agent as the Valorant Champions 2024 transfer window opened last September 11.
"Today we would like to wish farewell to our Valorant players DubsteP and Lenne. Our journey together was a rollercoaster of emotions, from our humble beginnings to facing big names on the world stage. Thank you for all the memories, salamat," Team Secret in said a post with a farewell video to both Paguirigan and Singapore's Lionel “lenne” Lim, the team's sub.
Last September 5, Paguirigan posted that Team Secret allowed him to explore opportunities for the 2024 Valorant Champions Tour season as a restricted free agent, effectively putting him on the team's inactive roster and sparking speculations of his eventual departure from the team.
Paguirigan was part of the Bren Esports roster that ruled the Philippine Valorant scene back in 2021. The team won all three legs of the local Challengers Tour and won the regional title in the final stage of the year to book themselves a ticket to Valorant Masters Berlin. Unfortunately, complications with travel documents prevented them from competing in Masters but their qualification was enough to help them reach Valorant Champions wherein they shocked the world by finishing in the top eight.
Since then, the team has yet to qualify to Champions, finishing the last chance qualifiers at fourth place last year while the 2023 version saw Team Secret on the brink of making it back to the world stage only to fall short at the Grand Finals against Japan's ZETA Division.
The release of Paguirigan leaves Jessie “JessieVash” Cuyco and Jim “BORKUM” Timbreza as the last two members of the original roster acquired by Team Secret in 2021.
