Lady Pirates stymie Lady Red Spikers in SSL

MANILA, Philippines -- The Lyceum Lady Pirates kept the San Beda University Lady Red Spikers winless in the Shakey’s Super League preseason championship, defeating them 25-6, 19-25, 26-24, 25-18 Sunday afternoon at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Johna Dolorito and Janeth Tulang led Lyceum with 15 points each.

Erin Navarro, meanwhile, led San Beda.

Coming off a defeat against Arellano Saturday, San Beda was listless from the get-go, being demolished by 19 points in the first set.

However, they found their bearings and upset Lyceum in the second set.

The Lady Pirates, however, closed out the next two sets to tally their first win in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Adamson Lady Falcons swept Arellano, 25-19, 25-17, 25-22 to get their first win in the tourney.

Antonette Adolfo led Adamson with 13 points.

Laika Tuldasan, meanwhile, had 10 for Arellano.
