MANILA, Philippines — World, say “prost!” to the new kings of basketball.

It’s Oktoberfest in September as Germany marked its historic ascension to the FIBA World Cup throne via an 83-77 dispatching of finals rival Serbia last night at a packed MOA Arena.

Dennis Schroder and Franz Wagner presided over a 22-10 German blitz in the third period to provide cushion for the breakthrough conquest celebrated by a small section of the 12,022-strong crowd and millions more back home.

Eventual Most Valuable Player Schroder of the Toronto Raptors fired a game-high 28 points, highlighting his heroics with a dagger layup and two cold-blooded charities that extinguished the remaining hopes of the rallying Serbians.

Wagner of the Orlando Magic shot 19 with seven boards in a strong complementary role as Johannes Voigtmann had 12, including a clutch trey that kept Germany in a comfortable position, 76-69, after Serbia came within four.

The new hoops overlord will leave basketball-crazy Manila with an immaculate 8-0 record in this World Cup to remember. Prior to this, the Germans enjoyed their best finish of third place back in 2002.

Aleksa Avramovic rifled in 21 while Bogdan Bogdanovic had 17 to pace Serbia, which failed to strike gold without megastar Nikola Jokic and finished second for the second time in the last three WCs. The Eagles took runner-up honors to the US in 2014.

Earlier, Canada sealed its historic run with a bronze, along the way rubbing salt on Team USA’s wounds by denying it a medal.

Dillon Brooks, the crowd’s favorite “villain,” and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the team’s top gunner, formed a lethal 1-2 punch as the Canadians dispatched the Americans in a wild overtime duel, 127-118, for their breakthrough FIBA World Cup medal.

Brooks, recipient of boos since his first game in Manila, received cheers and chants of “M-V-P” along the jeers this time as he produced a 39-point eruption that turned out the highest score for a Canadian player in the WC.

The Houston Rockets wingman, a known enforcer, flaunted his offensive prowess by knocking down his first five three-pointers en route to a 7-of-8 overall clip from deep.
