Red-hot Eala gains doubles semis in Aldershot

MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala is now training her sights for another pro title.
On the heels of snaring her fourth crown in the W25 Roehampton, Eala roared on and barged into another semifinal appearance – this time in the doubles play of the W25 Aldershot in Great Britain.
Eala and Polish partner Urszula Radwanska stunned the No. 1 seed home bets Emily Appleton and Lauryn John-Baptiste, 6-3, 7-5, to make the Final Four of the $25,000 tourney in Hampshire, England.
The unseeded Filipina-Polish duo first took care of business against Andre Lukosiute of Lithuania and Eliz Maloney of Great Britain, 6-4, 6-4, in the opening round.
Eala and Radwanska were to shoot for a finals ticket last night against the No. 3 seed tandem Erina Hayashi and Saki Imamura of Japan, who made short work of Great Britain’s Nell Miller and Amelia Rajecki, 7-5, 6-4.
In the singles division, the No. 3 seed Eala scored a 6-2, 6-4 win over home bet Ranah Akua Stoiber to advance in the Round of 16 against Australia’s Talia Gibson.
The 18-year-old Filipina had a quarterfinal finish in the W25 Roehampton doubles before reigning supreme in the singles play last week for her second title this season.
