MANILA, Philippines — Miguel Archangel Cruz, a 16-year-old Filipino amateur shooter, bagged a bronze medal in the recent Fifth World Rimfire and Air Rifle Benchrest Championships at Pilsen, Czech Republic.
Cruz, a a senior high school student and member of a 10-man delegation from the Philippine National Shooting Association (PNSA), competed in the heavy rifle category against 237 other benchrest shooters from 23 countries. He was coached by Jimmy Maniwang and was supervised by Delia Quidato.
Cruz is the son of Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission executive director and retired police Major Gen. Gilbert Cruz, and Pola, Oriental Mindoro Mayor Jennifer Mindanao Cruz.
