MANILA, Philippines — Nonito Donaire Jr. came up short in his bid to become the oldest bantamweight champion in boxing history after losing (unanimous decision) to Mexican Alexandro Santiago in their WBC 118-pound title fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Saturday (Sunday in Manila).
The Donaire-Santiago bout was one of the undercard bouts of the Errol Spence Jr.-Terence Crawford welterweight superfight.
Crawford knocked down Spence three times before finally ending the fight at 2:32 of the ninth round on a technical knockout to cement himself as one of the greatest welterweight fighters in history.
