URCC 86: Jones sends Baduria to retirement in just 42 seconds
MANILA, Philippines – Costa Rican Mariano “The Hitman” Jones gave Filipino mixed martial art veteran Caloy Baduria a quick but graceful exit from the sport, submitting him in just 42 seconds of their Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) 86 clash Tuesday night at the Palace in Xylo in Bonifacio Global City Taguig.
Jones, who will be turning 27 on Friday, deflected Baduria’s early attacks, went for a takedown, then applied the Americana or keylock submission to end the fight in the opening round.
“I wish Caloy the best in retirement and I like the guy, but they call me ‘The Hitman’ for a reason. I have no emotion in the cage. It feels good. I’m very thankful for the opportunity given to me by URCC and I hope to get a title shot in my next fight,” Jones said afterwards.
The undefeated fighter, known for both his wrestling and striking, has now improved to a 3-0 win-loss slate. In his previous bout in URCC 84, he also retired one of the best Filipino strikers in Arvin Chan via submission.
URCC president Alvin Aguilar and co-owner vice-president/general manager Aleks Sofronov praised the the fighters and grapplers who participated in the fight card sponsored by online casino Atlantis.
URCC 86 also supported by Angkas, and Lucas Lepri BJJ.
