Senate recognizes soft tennis� SEAG feat

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate has passed a resolution recognizing the achievement of the Philippine Soft Tennis team in the recent 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Sponsored by Sen. Sonny Angara with Sen. Bong Go as co-sponsor, Resolution No. 66 noted that the Philippine Soft Tennis Association under the capable guidance of its leaders led by Chairman Emeritus Dr./Brig. Gen. Antonio Laperal Tamayo and national president Cpt. Robert Joseph Moran, won three gold medals, one silver and one bronze in the recent SEA Games.

The team, under head coach Divine Escala and coaches Michael John Enriquez and Josephine Paguyo, won golds in the men’s singles courtesy of Joseph Arcilla, in women’s doubles through Noelle Conchita Corazon Zoleta-Mañalac and Princess Catindig and in women’s team through Zoleta-Mañalac, Catindig, Virvienial Bejosano, Christy Sañosa, Fatima Amirul and Noelle Nikki Camille Zoleta.

Zoleta also won a silver medal in the women’s singles event while the men’s team of Arcilla, Dheo Talatayod, Mark Anthony Alcoseba, Sherwin Ray Nuguit, Adjuthor Moralde and George Patrick Mendoza won a bronze medal.

Incidentally, Sañosa is an International Hospitality Management student at the University of Perpetual Help System Delta where Tamayo is chairman of the board and CEO. Nuguit is a Grade 10 student of the same institution while Arcilla was a former varsity player.
